A Romani perspective of the Future

On January 23 and 24, 2025, CESPYD’s Roma research line, in collaboration with the Public University of Navarra, the Federation of Roma Associations of Navarra Gaz Kaló, the Yiló Association, and La Fragua Projects, organized a Discussion Forum in Pamplona. This event brought together activists, academics, and representatives of Roma organizations from across the country to reflect on the impact of digitalization on the key areas of the National Strategy for Roma Equality, Inclusion and Participation 2021-2030: education, employment, housing, health, and antigypsyism.

Collective Reflection and Building the Future

The Forum was structured around a participatory model that combined critical analysis with innovative dynamics to imagine possible futures. We incorporated a pioneering methodological approach based on artificial intelligence: using Midjourney, we generated visual representations of the scenarios previously discussed in the Seville Discussion Forum. This exercise allowed participants to reflect on the future, recognizing both the challenges and opportunities posed by digitalization in their lives and communities.

The Forum concluded with a unique commemorative event: the celebration of the 600th anniversary of the Roma arrival in the Iberian Peninsula and the 25th anniversary of Gaz Kaló.
