We Launch ΨΥΧΟCINE: Film and Diversity Encounters for Empathy, Mental Health, and Psychosocial Wellbeing
We are pleased to announce the launch of ΨΥΧΟCINE, a new initiative developed in collaboration with undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students, and funded through the Participatory Budget of the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Seville.
The project consists of five cinema-forum sessions, using film as a critical tool to explore the representation of diversity, identity construction, and the role of media in psychosocial wellbeing.
Coordinated by Rocío Garrido, Blanca Vera, and Anna Zaptsi, ΨΥΧΟCINE aims to build bridges between the university, the wider community, and the public through cultural experiences that foster empathy, critical thinking, and social engagement.
The first session took place on Friday, May 16, at the Faculty of Psychology and focused on the representation of functional diversity in the media. Organized in collaboration with the Deaf People’s Society of Seville, it created a powerful space for collective reflection on identity, accessibility, stereotypes, and mental health—highlighting the need to build more inclusive narratives.
This initial encounter was a great success, bringing together students, professionals, and community members in a rich environment of participation, learning, and connection.
We look forward to seeing you at the next ΨΥΧΟCINE session!
