Non-Binary Democracy – Interdisciplinary Reflections Conference
The Non-Binary Democracy – Interdisciplinary Reflections conference was held on 11 December at the Faculty of Law, conceived as a space for critical dialogue from different disciplines on democracy, citizenship, and non-normative identities.
As part of the programme, Blanca Vera Moreno took part in the second panel session with the paper entitled “Audiovisual representation, empathy and parasocial contact: critical reflections on the imaginaries that produce citizenship.” In her presentation, she offered a critical examination of the role of audiovisual representation in the construction of social imaginaries, with particular attention to mediated contact with minoritised groups and its impact on contemporary forms of empathy and citizenship.
The conference was organised by Professor Blanca Rodríguez Ruíz and brought together scholars from different fields with the aim of fostering interdisciplinary reflection on the relationships between democracy, representation, and diversity.
