Abstract: The Situational Assessment Report (SAR) on Migrant Health at the Southern EU borders is based on the International Organization for Migration (IOM) assessment conducted within the framework of the Equi-Health project “Fostering health provision for migrants, the Roma, and other vulnerable groups”. The report was prepared with information collected in a desk review at regional and national level of publicly available reports, EU-funded projects, assessment tools, response planning, and training materials available in English and local languages. Field visits have been organized in 6 countries within the target region with the aim to obtain complementary field information. Through this Situational Assessment Report, EU Member States and accession countries will have increased understanding of the priorities for improving migrant health in detention and border facilities, collection of data and increased capacity to facilitate access to and provision of healthcare for migrants. The Equi-Health project is co-financed under the EU 2012 work plan, within the second programme of Community action in the field of health (2008-2013), by a direct grant awarded to IOM by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Health and Food Safety (SANTE), through the Consumers, Health, Agriculture, and Food Executive Agency (CHAFEA).
